Hacka calls

virtually connecting indie makers who
code, design, build, ship

meeting other indies
IRL is magical

but when that's not possible,
connecting online
could be the next best thing.

live video group demos

------ What is it?

A group of indie makers doing video calls, sharing what they are working on.

------ Why?

- share your work - the path of indie making can be lonely, but it doesn't have to be
- connect - more than in a few messages on the socials
- pitch freely - get better at talking about what you are building
- get feedback - more eyes on your product will help you improve
- stay accountable - we all drift off sometime, this will help you stay on track
- learn from others - we learn faster when we learn together
- get help - sometimes just a fresh perspective is enough to get over roadblocks
- stay inspired - see what others are shipping
- celebrate wins - share progress and milestones with people who can relate

------ Schedule, Group Sizes & Frequency:

- tbd based on schedule matching
(aiming to do at least 1/mo)

------ Structure:

Round 1:
Live intros + demos (total: 2.5 min each)
- "what did you get done this week?" (1 min - show)
- what’s in for next week, month?? (1 min - tell)
- something interesting about yourself? (0.5 min - share)

Round 2:
Ask questions, talk challenges
(2-4 min each, depending on group size)

Round 3:
Open discussion at the end

The exact schedule, group sizes & and meeting frequency - to be decided based on matching and testing

- 4-6 people per group seems to be the sweet spot
- aiming to do at least 1 meet/mo

(if you ever attended YC online startup school calls before, this should be somewhat familiar. Except the aim here is to have longer term bonds, and obviously - all is indie, bootstrapped)

Some Quick Answers

Who is organizing

Mainly Cso - me, at the moment. I started several communities, organized events, check out some of them here  - cso.works/events

Why this?

I always organized all sort of events wherever I ended up traveling. After I stopped traveling the one thing I was missing was connecting with interesting makers, so here we are.

How is it related to hackagu?

I started hackagu in 2019 as one of the hacking event experiments. I left in 2020 and the group kept going until 2024, when the local guys decided to make the group more local and exclusive. After this split I thought it's good to have an alternative for remote types, like myself.

I kept the old hacka chats open for any type of hackagu member, and I'm saving a special place for any hackaguer in here too.
